The Refuge’s Safe House provides emergency shelter at an un-disclosed location to individuals fleeing domestic violence. Individuals and their children are offered a 30-45 day stay free of charge with access to food, clothing, and hygiene items as they need. While staying at the safe house, individuals have access to the following services: individualized case management, group and individual therapy, empowering and uplifting classes, children’s case management, daily children’s activity program, and children’s recreational group therapy. Individuals seeking shelter should call our domestic violence hotline regarding room availability, support, and safety planning.

Domestic Violence

All individuals who exit the shelter can participate in an after-care program for one year of continued support. This program includes support through home visits, group therapy, case management, and access to basic immediate needs for food, clothing, and other home items.


For domestic violence victims not seeking shelter, The Refuge has a Community Advocate who can provide confidential support and advocacy. The Community Advocate can assist with a variety of services including drafting and filing a protective order and attend court with victims. They can provide resources for education, referrals for housing, and legal services and can communicate with individuals through in person meetings, by phone, text, and email.

 

Individual therapy for domestic violence victims in Juab county in offered at a satellite office in Nephi.

 

A Community Domestic Violence Education and Support group takes place each Wednesday evening at 6pm at our Orem office. This class is intended for domestic violence victims and their supporters. This is a 12 week class that includes topics such as thinking errors, how to know if they’ve really changed, self care, what to do next, and more. It is free and open to the public to join at any time. It is currently offered both in person and online through Zoom

Sexual Assault

The Refuge provides Hospital Response Advocates that will meet victims of sexual assault at the hospital 24/7 to provide confidential advocacy during Code R exams. Individuals seeking support after a sexual assault can receive follow-up services from trained staff offering additional services including free individual and group therapy, help with Crime Victim’s Reparations forms, and access to other resources and services.
A Sexual Assault Education and Support group takes place each Wednesday evening at 7pm at the Orem office. This class is intended for primary and secondary victims of Sexual Assault. This group discusses the challenges that come from dealing with Sexual Assault. It is free and open to the public to join at any time. It is currently offered both in person and online through Zoom.
